Advantage
- Excellent Power Capability
- Excellent Cycle Performance
- Excellent Safety Performance
- Excellent Low Temperature Performance
EnerDel's Lithium Titanate Li-ion cells will be capable of providing enough power and energy to meet the requirements necessary for hybrid electric vehicles (HEV).
HEV needs much higher power density than EV/PHEV applications. EnerDel hard carbon cell s can provide the best performance with an excellent safety and long cycle ability. (Refer to “Applications”)

Safety
EnerDel’s cell chemistry enables the production of cells that do not exhibit large thermal excursions compared to other commercially available lithium ion cells. The unique chemistry does not produce much heat during large current draws or during overcharge or over discharge conditions. In addition the mechanical design allows for heat to dissipate easily and maintain temperatures that do not cause thermal runaway.
Life
The cycle life expectancy of EnerDel’s cells makes it a suitable candidate for HEV applications. The cell chemistry is capable of achieving more than 1000 cycles at an elevated temperature of 55oC without losing more than 5% of its initial capacity.
Low Temperature Performance (Cold Cranking Performance)
Our independent lab data shows EnerDel lithium titanate chemistry is achieving USABC low temperature performance goal. Cold cranking is one of the biggest challenges for both Ni-MH batteries and other graphite base lithium ion chemistries because a regular Ni-MH batteries use an aqueous electrolyte and graphite base electrolyte has to use high viscosity electrolyte. Under low temperature, those electrolyte will loose the liquid flow. But, our system do not have to use those electrolytes. (Refer to low temp. Data)
Self Discharge
EnerDel lithium titanate system has very minor self discharge rate despite achieving an excellent power capability. Our independent lab test data shows much lower self discharge rate comparing to Freedom Car Goal. (Less than 2Wh per Day for 25kW system – Freedom Car Goal is less than 50Wh/day.)
