MAJOR FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES

The Patent and Contract Administrator is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the Company’s intellectual property and contracts. 

PRIMARY DUTIES

·         Maintaining a contract docket and a patent and trademark docket, including United States and Foreign patent and trademark applications

·         Liaising with inventors, engineers, the general counsel’s office and outside patent attorneys to maintain work flow and ensure that deadlines are met - this will include invention disclosures, patent applications and correspondence with the various government patent offices as well as correspondence with outside counsel.

·         Writing reports on the status of patent and trademark prosecution files and other projects

·         Maintaining patent and trademark files and all company contracts

·         Patent and trademark searching and reporting of search results

·         Technical research including literature searches, patent and trademark searches

·         Arranging meetings and telephone conferences; attendance at such meetings and telephone conferences

 

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

·         Good organizational skills and attention to detail essential.

·         Superior writing skills required.

·         Excellent MicroSoft Office skills required.

·         Patent and trademark searching skills required.

·         Contract administration experience required.

·         Must be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment and exhibit a strong understanding of the corporate business objectives when setting priorities while under time pressures and deadlines.

·         Must possess critical thinking, analytical and communication skills, both written and oral and be detail oriented. 

·         Strong interpersonal skills required.

·         Must have the ability to maintain high degree of professionalism at all times.

·         The ability to prepare clear, accurate and concise reports is required.

·         Must be able to establish and maintain efficient data collection/record keeping systems.

·         Must be able to establish and maintain efficient data collection/record keeping systems.

·         Must be able to easily adapt to changing situations.

EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE

·         Minimum 3 years previous related experience is required.

·         BA/BS in related field preferred.

·         Patent paralegal experience is preferred.

·         Paralegal certificate is preferred buy not essential.
