EnerDel's
technologies are aimed at improving the performance, cost and efficiency
of next generation hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and other applications
that can utilize our lithium power modules. Our complete battery solution
encompasses innovation at every phase - from low cost raw materials and
high rate, nano-structured electrodes to automated assembly and systems
integration.
EnerDel's technologies include a nanotechnology-based process to produce high-rate electrodes (both anodes and cathodes) with superior performance capabilities. These technologies will enable our batteries to provide more sustained power and recharge quickly, key requirements for battery technology used in HEVs.
EnerDel will use an automated process to produce its lithium power modules. Utilizing automation reduces the labor costs associated with traditional battery production, and will make our lithium power modules price-competitive with batteries that are produced in foreign countries. Our flexible automated facilities can be located in close proximity to US-based OEMs, thus reducing the transportation costs and avoiding some of the regulatory issues for lithium batteries that foreign competition encounters.
Our automated mass production process will be implemented with the help of Enerstruct,
Ener1's joint venture company with ITOCHU
Corp. EnerDel colleagues will work with a team of production experts from Enerstruct, leveraging their 100+ years of collective experience gained from working at the world's leading battery companies, including Sony, GS Battery and Sanyo.
EnerDel's strong systems integration experience, gained from our association with our shareholder Delphi
Corp., the world's largest automotive component supplier, enables EnerDel to provide automotive manufacturers and OEMs with an array of capabilities designed to maximize the lithium power solution.
